Our U21 hurlers played a very good challenge vs Cappoquin juniors this morning. Conditions were heavy underfoot, but we started well and settled early with points from Stevie O' Connell & Colm O' Connell. Cappoquin goaled late in the half and the teams went in level at the break (0.07 to 1.04).
The second half was a see-saw affair. We dominated possession for the first 10 mins but could not conve
rt the chances created. We lost our shape and Cappoquin scored two goals to take a four point lead. However, great forward play saw Colm O' Connell finish to the net, and a Stevie O' Connell point levelled the game. Cappoquinn scored a 65 as the game entered injury time but from the resulting puck out some good interplay from the forwards saw Matthew Norris point a deserving equaliser. Final score: 1.11 to 3.05
This was an excellent all 'round performance and sets us up well for next week's championship opener against Skeheen. We have plenty of room for improvement but the boys are working hard on their game and we look forward to next weekend
