Well done to the senior footballers who beat Carrick Swan in the first round of the South Championship. The first half was nip and tuck with some wayward shooting by both sides, but we lead by a point at half time and looked forward to having the breeze at our backs for the second period. Our boys were much better in the second half and we were 4 points ahead going into injury time when Swan goaled against the run of play. We endured a nervy last few minutes but deservedly held on for the win; our first against Swan in this grade.
Dean Horton went very well in his senior championship debut, and Shane Kearney gave an exhibition of high fielding in the second half. This win gives us a good platform, and if we can convert more of the scoring chances created, we should be in the shake up come the business end of the season. Final Score 0.09 to 1.05
