A goal with literally the last puck of the game saw Ballingarry snatch an unlikely draw in Kilsheelan this evening. We were firmly in control of the game for most of the second half but took the foot off the gas and Ballingarry took full advantage. The first half was tit for tat but we lead by a solitary point at the break (7 points to 6) despite not having played particularly well. There was a s
mall improvement in the second half, and thanks to the free taking of Dean Kelleher we built up what should have been a match winning lead.
Unfortunately too many of our players didn't play to their usual standard on the night and we had to settle for the draw. This result means that Ballingarry top the group and we go into the quarter final - facing second place in the other group. Best for the Og were Dean Kelleher, Karl Kearney, Jason Cockburn, & Marc Ahearne. We also welcomed Graham Quinn back into action after his serious injury in the first round game
Whilst this was a very disappointing end to the game, your correspondent is reminded of the circuitous route taken by our Junior A Footballers in 1995 when we won our first ever adult title. Hopefully the boys will knuckle down and work on the areas in which we need improvement. We will be playing in possibly two weekends time.
