We lost a very competitive South Senior Football Championship tie to Commercials on Friday evening last in Monroe. We got off to a slow start but we got back into the game before we had a man dismissed after 15 minutes. Our opponents tried to push home the numerical advantage but we battled well and were only behind by the minimum at the break. We were boosted by a great Eoin Fallon goal in the second half but then we lost both Ian Purcell and Cian Hogan through injury. The result was in doubt right up to the end until Commercials scored an injury time goal. It was a commendable performance by our lads but we are going to have to turn these performances into winning ones if we are to qualify for the knockout stages.
TEAM-Keith Madigan, Colin O'Mahoney, Dara Kearney, Graham Quinn, Michael Condon, Noel Walsh, Ian Purcell, John Cagney, Mathew Norris, Malcolm O' Connor, Robbie Hickey, Eoin Fallon, Dean Kelleher, Terry Kearns, Cian Hogan, Colm O' Connell, Gavin Waters and Brian Gentles.
We paid a heavy price for Friday nights game as Colin O'Mahoney, Michael Condon, John Cagney, Malcolm O' Connor, Ian Purcell, Noel Walsh and Cian Hogan were all injured and along ith long time absentees, Shane Kearney, Christy Aylward and Conor Morrissey we found it impossible to field a team against Moyle Rovers on Suday This was very disappointing but very understandable under the circumstances. We have two difficult games nex weekend on Friday we play Carrick Swan in Kilsheelan at 4-30pm while on Monday we play Kilsheelan in Carrick at 5pm.
