Our senior footballers made their exit from the south championship on Tuesday evening last in Ballyporeen when they were defeated by Commercials. It was not our best display and our performance was flat but credit must go to our opponents who were the better side on the night and fully deserved their victory. A big thanks to Tom Mansfield and John Crotty for their considerable efforts throughout the year to Jim Cleary, Sean Quirke and Eddie Kearney for their wonderful assistance. Finally a huge appreciation to the players for the huge effort they made this year. They were forced to wait a long time to play a match through no fault of their own but they kept making the effort at training and for that they are to be commended. I do not blame any club for the hold up in this year’s championship nor do I blame the officers of the south board but maybe The G.A.A. should take a look at its many rules and regulations that can allow a delay, in our case 15 weeks, between matches. There is something rotten in the state of Denmark.
